மொபைல் போனைக் காக்கும் 'ஏர் பேக்'...

ஜெர்மனியைச் சேர்ந்த ஃபிலிப் ஃபிரென்ஸல் என்ற பொறியியல் மாணவர், ஏர் பேக் கொண்ட மொபைல் கவர் ஒன்றை வடிவமைத்துள்ளார்.

ஸ்மார்ட்போன்கள் இன்று நம்முள் ஓர் அங்கமாக மாறிவிட்ட நிலையில் அதனைப் பாதுகாப்பாக வைத்துக்கொள்ளச் சந்தையில் பல்வேறு ஸ்மார்ட் கேஸ்கள் வந்து விட்டன. இருப்பினும் ஒருமுறை போன் கை தவறி கீழே விழுந்துவிட்டால் அதன் ஸ்க்ரீனில் ஏற்படும் விரிசலை யாராலும் தடுக்க முடியாது (கொரில்லா கிளாஸ் டிஸ்ப்ளே தவிர). அப்படி ஒரு சூழலை சந்திக்கும் ஒருவரின் மனநிலை எப்படி இருக்கும் என்பதை வர்ணிக்கவே முடியாது. காரணம், அதனை மீண்டும் சரி செய்ய சில ஆயிரங்கள் செலவாகும். இனி அந்தக் கவலை இல்லை.

ஆலென் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தைச் சேர்ந்த 25 வயதான ஃபிலிப் ஃபிரென்ஸல் என்ற மாணவர், மொபைல் கீழே விழுந்தாலும் அது அடிபடாத வகையில் புதிய ஏர் பேக் கேஸ் ஒன்றை வடிவமைத்துள்ளார். ஒருமுறை இவரது விலை உயர்ந்த போன் கீழே விழுந்து உடைந்ததாலேயே இந்த ஏர் பேக் மொபைல் கேஸை உருவாக்கும் எண்ணம் இவருள் முளைத்திருக்கிறது. நான்கு ஆண்டு கால முயற்சிக்குப் பின் ஆக்டிவ் டாம்பிங் என்ற பெயரில் இந்த ஏர் பேக் மொபைல் கேஸை அவர் உருவாக்கியிருக்கிறார்.

 இந்த மொபைல் கவரில் சென்சார் ஒன்று பொருத்தப்பட்டிருக்கும். மொபைல் கீழே விழும்போது, அந்த சென்சார் மூலம் இந்த கேஸில் உள்ள ஸ்பிரிங் போன்ற அமைப்பானது தானாக விரிவடைந்து மொபைலை எந்தவித சேதமும் இன்றி காக்கிறது. இந்த மொபைல் கவர் இன்னும் விற்பனைக்கு வரவில்லை. தற்போது இந்தக் கண்டுபிடிப்புக்கு உரிமம் பெற விண்ணப்பிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதற்கு உரிமம் கிடைக்கும்பட்சத்தில் விரைவில் சந்தைகளில் எதிர்பார்க்கலாம்.

Most of us use them every day, the thinplastic bags used by almost every retailer we visit. Whether we're shopping for groceries or the newest Prada, you can almost guarantee that you'll be leaving the store with a plasticbag stuffed full of your new goodies. Then, when you arrive home, you'll quickly remove them like a kid openingChristmas presents, tossing aside the wrapping with thoughtless abandon. Have you ever stopped to consider what happens to those plastic bags? Has it ever occurred to you just how many of them we go through, individually, in a year?

International Plastic Bag Free Day is dedicated to heightening awareness about these and very real and pressingissues brought about by this most popular of disposable carrying devices. We are reminded that those bags we pick up from the retailers are used for an incredibly short time, usually under 25 minutes, and are thendisposed of. They may pass out of our thinking then, but they do not pass out of our world. Plastic bags remain in theworld for anywhere from 100-500 years before finally decaying completely, and have a profound impact upon our environment as a result.

Out in the great reaches of the ocean are massive reefs made up of all sorts of plastic waste, and plastic bags play heavily among them.  Such is the magnitude of the problem that these great floating islands reach hundreds of miles, like great monuments to mankind's wastefulness, and disregardfor the world upon which we live. International Plastic Bag Free Day gives us an opportunity to remind ourselves, and others, that every actionwe take, and every bag we dispose of, effects the lives of everyone in the world for generations to come.

How to Observe International Plastic Bag Free Day...

There are a lot of good ways to celebrate, and the easiest requires a simple resolution on your part. Even if just for one day, choose paper over plastic, or even better bring your own bags to the retailers to pick up your goods.  Some stores even offer discounts or other perks for the customers that bring their own! If you own a store yourself, start a program to encourage your customers to bring in their own reusable containers and stop offering plastic bags as an option.If you want to become even more proactive, then you can head tohttp://www.plasticbagfreeday.org/to help organize events, network with other people in your area and around the world who are striving to make a difference, or find an event to volunteerand help with yourself!

The problem has reached such proportions that what was once clean sand on the beaches of the world are now being found to be made of composites of natural substances and garbage plastic.
